For a week, Sevilla only lives for this event. The music, the food, and the dancing create a very special atmosphere.
La feria de Abril is one of the most internationals and traditionalist events of Sevilla.
It was originated in 1847 as a cattle market.
For a week, more than 1,000 booths installed in the fairgrounds become the second home of the people of this city, a space to share and have fun until late.
Officially the event begins on Monday at midnight with the “prueba del alumbrao”, the lighting of the thousand colored light bulbs of the fairground.
While the event lasts people dress in typical Andalusian clothes.
Another essential element is the bulls: every afternoon the Plaza de la Maestranza is filled to witness the corresponding run. And a fireworks show on Sunday at midnight, closes the April Fair until the following year.
